Claude Monet delivers with The Studio Boat an intimate and innovative vision of his creative process in 1876. This canvas immortalizes the specially equipped vessel that the artist used to paint on the Seine, thus transforming a simple boat into a true floating studio. At the center of the composition, the workshop floats peacefully on the shimmering waters of Argenteuil, its white and black structure standing out against a lush vegetative background. Inside the open cabin, a dark silhouette – probably Monet himself or a companion – dedicates himself to his artistic work, creating a fascinating mise en abyme of the painter painting.
